Imitation cladding for a gazebo

The owner of a garden gazebo wanted to achieve a cosier and more aesthetically pleasing look for his relaxation area, but a conventional renovation would have required considerable cost and time. The solution came in the form of 3D printing — the idea of creating decorative cladding that visually mimics natural materials while remaining affordable and easy to execute.

Each piece was designed with attention to both textural detail and ease of installation. The shape of the individual panels was carefully considered so that they would fit together naturally, creating a seamless, convincing pattern — with no visible gaps or distracting joints. PLA proved to be the ideal choice: it prints easily, takes surface finishing well, and the resulting wood or stone effect looks surprisingly authentic.

Printing took place in stages, with each set of pieces being finished with a colour treatment after printing, which further enhanced the illusion of natural material. The owner was able to install the panels on the gazebo himself, without any specialist tools — the pieces simply adhered to the surface, and the whole process felt more like an enjoyable creative endeavour than a demanding task.

The result exceeded expectations. The gazebo took on an entirely new character — warm, natural and inviting — and the garden surroundings were transformed into a space where one genuinely wants to spend time. The project also demonstrated that 3D printing can deliver aesthetic solutions even in places where you might not expect it.
